Application Note: Leak Testing of Carburetor Assemblies
When a manufacturer’s carburetor line had to gear up to take on the production of another plant, the Sentinel 3520 enabled them to meet the challenge. By dramatically improving the cycle time of their leak test system not only did they reduce the number of leak test stations by half, allowing them to incorporate the test into the line, they improved their quality.

Application Note | Power Steering Pump Tube Press: Verification Of Tube Press Into Power Steering Pump
An automotive parts manufacturer was unable to verify that the tube insertion process was free of defects to avoid potential power steering failures in the field. A sigPOD press monitor was configured to monitor press load versus distance and successfully detects defects in-process such as too large insertion hole, loose tube and debris. Application Note: Transfer Case Shift Actuator Test
Electronically operated transfer cases are difficult to test post-installation as it is unreliable and expensive, especially when defects are found. Sciemetric offers turnkey solutions for several test scenarios using signature analysis to detect and pinpoint defects in the transfer case (poor gear mesh, motor winding defects, and defective actuator), while accurately determining root-cause(s). Application Note: Transmission NVH Testing
The engine manufacturer had issues with inconsistent transmission quality causing unwanted noise and vibration. Sciemetric’s proven NVH test was seamlessly integrated onto their existing EOL test to detect issues such as, valve noise, missing bearings, timing problems, gear and loose rubbing parts in addition to having all data stored in a central location for complete traceability. Application Note: Brake Master Cylinder Leak Testing
Engine manufactures required a solution for detecting both static (decay) and dynamic (fill) leak defects in order to manufacture the highest quality brake master cylinder. Read our Application Note to learn how Sciemetric solved the problem.

Application Note | Piston Cooling Nozzle Assembly: Test Verification Using Signature Analysis
Sciemetric’s process monitoring system was used to successfully detect piston cooling nozzle defects early in the assembly process. Detects all missing, blocked or obstructed cooling nozzles, measures high and low pressure and provides real-time ‘PASS’ or ‘FAIL’ results to the operator. Installation of the system resulted in the diesel engine manufacturer, decreasing end-of-line repair costs, customer warranty claims and more. Read the Application Note to learn more.

Application Note: Verification of Piston Type & Orientation Using Laser Scanning
A major automotive integrator was unable to test any one of four engine blocks right after piston insertion and defects being found after final engine assembly were causing expensive teardowns. Sciemetric easily installed a test and analysis system using laser scanning to verify the engine blocks to ensure correct positioning and accurately find defects such as under or oversized and bent pistons. Application Note | Power Steering Pump: Vane Defect Detection Using Signature Analysis
A power steering pump manufacturer required a solution that accurately detected the most subtle vane defects prior to final assembly to avoid costly tear downs due to the objectionable noise and vibration (NVH) they can create. A Sciemetric test and analysis system was installed and configured to observe the pressure waveform, allowing easy detection of missing, nicked, bent and slightly stuck vanes. Application Note: Transfer Line Load Monitoring
The transfer lines are often subjected to substantial loads and forces during the transfer process. Recently, a transfer line that was being used to transfer automobile bodies on a body weld line began experiencing problems with pin shear as a direct result of the force required to move the parts. A Sciemetric test and analysis system was used and provided a quick and easy solution to the problem. The system was configured to monitor and collect for fifteen seconds the compression and tension force data from a load cell configured on a transfer line (the entire process occurred in eleven seconds).
