Engineering Program Manager

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Reports to: CTO

Job Summary

Responsible to lead and supervise a program/project through completion, overseeing successful output. Responsible to outline the program/projects goals and objectives, while acting as a liaison between program staff and upper management/executives.


  • Strategize and outline goals and objectives of the program
  • Plans and ensures optimum use of resources; administers and monitors use against budget
  • Directs compilation of required data, including budget, time constraints; technical data; and develops detailed schedules for major or complex projects, detailing all activities required for successful completion.
  • Arranges the distribution of work packages to the responsible function within the company and/or external contractors ensuring awareness of and commitment to project requirements.
  • Track program progress
  • Monitor multiple projects through the entire program cycle ensuring cost and time constraints are met and acting to ensure problem resolution, as necessary
  • Manage the day-to-day detailed aspects of multiple projects
  • Set timelines for goal posts/due dates
  • Manage and submit program documentation
  • Assess potential risks and escalate as required
  • Solve problems and issues
  • Communicate program objectives, goals, and progress to program directors, executives, upper management, and stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor project staff and team members
  • Assist team members and project managers when needed to accomplish team goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ years (minimum) experience in technical program/project management
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
