Account Manager

Location: Detroit, Michigan

Job Summary

Build and grow our Client’s global sales in territories that are assigned to the RSM.  This position requires a seasoned sales manager with a good blend of technical knowledge, understanding of sales processes, coaching and mentoring skills to collaboratively work with a group of engineers, sales, and marketing personnel to help accelerate and support our Client’s sales within the given territory. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed company sales targets for the territory assigned
  • Ensure that the territory is covered to engage new business in the market through well-defined sales
  • A strong sales hunter drive
  • Sales forecasts and performance, negotiating contracts and managing order bookings sales orders for the specified territory
  • Develop strategic plan to grow sales and mature the accounts into higher revenue
  • Prepare pipeline, forecasts, and revenue stream for direct sales metrics and reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Conduct visits to net new customer sites, as well as existing customers on a regular basis to grow relationship and increase sales
  • Lead sales calls, demos, and support relationships with key accounts as requested
  • Assist marketing in organizing seminars, direct mailers, and trade shows as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years of experience in sales or account management
  • Strong sales and marketing aptitude
  • Proven track record of developing new accounts with strong operations aptitude and exceptional organizational skills
  • Must be able to quickly learn value of our products to the end customer’s and be able to clearly articulate this to customers 
  • A sound technical understanding in automotive and/or industrial manufacturing processes, industrial automation, test and measurement, and software and hardware systems for quality control
  • A good technical understanding of instrumentation, electrical measurements and sensors would be an asset
  • Must be able to travel a minimum 50%, and as required to ensure successful execution of business plan

  • Good written, oral, and telephone communication skills
  • Able to understand and effectively articulate our Client’s technology to potential customers
  • Above average computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and experience with Salesforce
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills
