Pre-Sales Engineer

Job Summary

The Pre-Sales Engineer will have responsibility for providing the sales team with engineering and technical sales support. This will include assisting the customer account manager who will create the actual proposals and formal quotations. Additionally, the Pre-Sales Engineer will create engineering studies and pre-sale testing reports on new opportunities. The Pre-Sales Engineer will be the liaison between sales, development and marketing teams. They will also provide the ongoing development of the sales team by training new sales and business development recruits. The sales engineering team is a cross functional team that will support all sales teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to the sales teams to support sales objectives
  • Accountable to deliver pre- sales engineering studies to support account sales objectives
  • Responsible for assisting the sales account manager technically in creating proposals and quotations
  • Technically assisting the customer Account Manager in sales who will develop actual proposals and quotations in support of sales
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with management
  • Liaison between sales, development, and marketing teams
  • Provide clear translation of customer requirements during the sales process
  • Provide product training to the sales teams in cooperation with the product manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education at the Bachelor’s level mandatory – strong aptitude for electro mechanics and mechatronics
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a related industry; manufacturing support an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong background with analog instruments, sensors and measurement devices (load cells, laser micrometers, thermocouples, etc.)
  • Experience with the use and application of signal conditioners, A/D converters, as well as experience with low voltage sensor wiring, grounding and noise reduction practices
  • Experience with industrial testing
  • Charismatic speaker, natural instructor
  • Sales experience that includes the sale of value added services
  • Willing to travel extensively in North America, and periodically global

  • Self-Starter with strong organization skills
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills
  • Dedication to customer support, service and satisfaction
  • Willingness to travel over 50% of the time
